Is it just me, or do other find the cursor legend introduced in Labview 8.x complete useless. To start, I find it very ugly. It is also way to dominating in the front panel. And why can I not control how the numbers are shown. It uses the settings used by the axis. I have stopped to use it, because all our customers disliked it. The first thing they put the finger on was the cursor legend. And it was always followed up by "can you change it". Now they have it in spec list. No Labview 8 styled cursor legend. To sum it up it looks like it is designed by a very inexperienced trainee, and the functionality is on the same level. I really miss the cursor legend used in Labview 7.x. Ok maybe it was not optimal. But at least more user-friendly and better looking. I suggest NI replace some experienced programmers/designers from the ExpressVI team, so they can create something much more useful, and needed.

I agree. It messed up all front panels that were nicely arranged in 7.1 for no benefit. And there's also some bugs. Just one example: for an intensity graph the cursor has X,Y,Z values. While you can adjust the font for the X and Y values, Z is not clickable (LV 8.5.1).
We removed the native cursor legend from most VIs. Better to use your own display.
While I appreciate the effort to improve the cursor legend I think this was not very successful in LV8.

!!!!
I guess, you just virtually slapped NI R&D!!!

I felt that way as well but my objection was over the loss of functionality we had with the old one where we could create a reference to the cursor legend and manipulate same.
Well such is life,

Working with cursors in 7.x was nice. But now it just adds more cost and grief. In the early days Labview was a tool for the programmer. Nowadays the flimflams factor is to high. You have to pay for it, but you do not use it. It would be nice if NI could make "programmers edition" containing just Labview and no Express VIs and other lardy-dardy stuff. And of course the "programmers edition" should cost less

Oh yes I do. The Labview cursor legend is banned long time ago.

With all my experience in NI-LabVIEW, I felt LabVIEW 7.1 Edition was the stable, bug-free(almost ), comfortable programming language.
Like Ben said,
Well Such is Life - adopt to it.

I also liked the 7.1 version. One of the best I will say. And yes I adopt to it ;). This day I had renovate some old 7.1 software. It used a lot of cursor displays. So I was just letting out some steam. But I still think the "programmers edition" of Labview is a good idea

For this we would have to turn our complaints into some useful suggestions
