Hi,
I have a problem with the IN-MAX.
I´m using a GigE uEye-Camera . It´s no GigE Vision so i try to use DirectShow.
Normal DS-programs like AMCap have no problems and work fine.
Max detect the camera, but if i try to use it, MAX show an error : "Unable to get attribute"
I use LV 8.61 and now MAX 5
Can anyone help me with this?
Regards

Hi Andreas
What do you mean with the IN-MAX ? The NI-IMAQdx driver ?
So working with a GigE camera without the correct driver is very hard, for using the camera in MAX and LabVIEW you must install the Vision Acquisiton Software and for using it you need also a license.
NI Vision Acquisition Software 2011.09
Direct Show is a Microsoft driver for cameras and will not work with a GigE camera in LabVIEW or in the MAX.
Kind regards

Hi Pixar
I know that the NI-IMAQdx-driver works only with "GigE Vision"-Kameras, but Max has a DirectShow driver and list all DS-Kameras.
In this case it is a kind of Videointerface like Twain or so. Max use DS for USB-Kamera as well, so it should work!
by the way I have the new NI VAS 2011.09 and license.
Kind regards

Hi Andreas
If you have the VAS I am really confused why you would like to use the DS driver and not the IMAQdx driver ?
Attributes can only be set with the IMAQdx for GigE cameras, not with the DS driver.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Camera Standards
---> Direct Show (USB Cameras)
So when the camera is recognized in the MAX it should appear under an IMAQdx folder.
By the way, the IMAQdx also works with Firewire (IEEE 1394) and USB cameras.

Hi Pixar
All cameras will show under the IMAQdx folder, the cameras installed under DS too!
The IMAQdx should work with DS and DS with the camera.
I know thats not the best to do that, but IMAQdx only work with "GigE Visions" camera in the direct way, not with all GigE.
I have tested a USB Kamera too. This has to work under DS, or MAX would not find it.
But I have the same Problem with this USB camera: "Unable to get attribute".
Maybe Max is looking for DS installed cameras but don't used his DS-driver !
Unfortunately it's not possible to change or choose a driver for this camera. One click and the error will appear.

Hi Andreas
Normally when a camera is following the GigE standard you can use it with the IMAQdx driver.
So here you can find some steps to troubleshoot the camera:
