IVI logical name not showing up

I have a Tektronix TDS2024B scope. I installed the IVI drivers and configured it in MAX. When I run the IviScope example program, nothing shows up in the IVI Logical Name drop down box, and I get an error when I copy the name ("myTDS2024B")  into the box.

Should something be showing up in here, and if so, where should I look to fix the problem?

The error I get is...

IviScope Initialize With Options.vi<ERR>
Driver Status:  (Hex 0xBFFA0010) Primary Error: (Hex 0xBFFA0010) Invalid value for parameter or property.
Elaboration: IVI Configuration Server C API: Set failed. The name of a virtual name item must consist of one or more of the following: 'a'-'z', 'A'-'Z', '0'-'9', '!', or '_'

I had installed the IVI common framework (or something) because the tektronix IVI drivers requested it. Perhaps that broke something?

Hello Brian,

So did you configure both the Driver Session and Logical Name in Measurement and Automation Explorer?  If you are not seeing the name of your device in the drop down menu chances are that one, or both, of these have not been configured.  The Logical Name is what you should see in the drop down menu.

The items were configured in MAX. Here is some more background...

I had installed a Agilent 34410A driver, configured it in MAX, and then had my program reading and writing to the DMM. Then I went to Tektronix's website and downloaded their IVI driver. Their IVI driver called for the common framework from ivifoundation.org, so I installed that as well. I went into MAX and configured the scope. When I tried to run the example "IviScope Wfm Aquire.vi, nothing appeared in my drop down box. I fiddled and fiddled, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and now nothing works. Furthermore, I cannot even create a new IVI instrument in MAX because the "Create New..." selection is greyed out. Something is seriously f'ed up and I have no clue how to fix it. I even tried using a restore point, to no avail.

Hello Brian,

It sounds like you may need to repair your NI IVI Compliance Package.  You can find this in the Add or Remove Programs section under NI Software.  Give this a try and see if this allows you to create new IVI sessions in Measurement and Automation Explorer.
