I have reproduced this on two different LabVIEW 2009 installs (two different PCs).
Setup:
- I create a VI and save it as a Template VI (.vit) and then I try to edit the icon for the .vit by right clicking on the icon and selecting "edit icon".
What happens:
- The icon editor does not open and I cannot close the .vit. I can still make changes to the .vit, but I cannot close the .vit without using Win Task Manager.
Any Ideas?

By the way, this is LabVIEW 2009 with the f2 Patch installed.

Hello Chris,
Thank you for the report. I have submitted a corrective action request (CAR#194720) to our R&D group and this issue will be addressed in future releases of patch/LabVIEW. By the way, I was able to use LabVIEW 8.6 without this error.

Chris,
sorry for the inconvenience.
I have put a patch online which should avoid this problem. I have checked it on one of our test machines and it seems to work.

ThSa,
This patch did not work for me. I restarted LabVIEW as it suggested, since that did not work I tried a PC reboot, still no luck.
My workaround has been to save the .vit as a .vi, modify the icon, and then save as a .vit.
Thanks.

If you double-click on the icon, the icon editor should open. I've only reproduced the issue by using the right-click menu shortcut for the icon editor in a .vit.
To reproduce the issue:
This appears to work on my system, any other takers?

Bob,
I just tried double-clicking on the icon and it works for me.
Its not my habitual way of editing the icon, but its better than the work around I was using (listed previously).
Thanks,
Chris

Double-clicking works! I didn't know this way of opening the icon editor. It's almost too easy. So I guess I learned something new today 🙂
