If the butterworth filter available in LabVIEW FPGA is cascaded, can I get a higher order filter?

I need a 10th order butterworth low pass filter with cutoff frequency 5 kHz. Can I build it by cascading 2 4th order butterworth filters and 1 2nd order butterworth filter available in LabVIEW FPGA each with cutoff frequency 5 kHz?

Doing this will increase the amount that your data will be filtered but will not be increasing the order in the manor that you are thinking. If you were to cascade two 2 4th order filters and compare the results to an 8th order filter, the resulting bode plot of the cascaded filter would look more like a 6.5th order filter.
