In Windows Vista a shared Document locks up MS Word

When I share a folder in Windows Vista and open a MS word document in
the shared folder on the host system and then attempt to open the same
document from another Windows Visa system MS Word locks up until I
close the document on the host system.

I checked my sharing settings and they all seem to be correct.

Does anybody know what could be the problem?
