Increased Installer Size in LabVIEW 8.5

Then the NI installer is made, a lot of functionality that is not needed is included. NI has to do this because many users do not care to read manuals. Even reading the information in the context help is to much for many Labview users. They prefer to take a phone to the local NI office instead. So in order to avoid getting to much unwanted support calls they include support for almost all of the basic labview functionality in the installer. And as the number of basic labview functions grows, so does the installer.

Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted
(Sorry no Labview "brag list" so far)

Interesting theory, but my point still stands.  I expect that, as you say, more and more features are added to LV they will be forced to divide the RTE into modules.  Otherwise, it will get just too big (as it stands now).

Compared with other development environments it is actually becoming quite a disadvantage; the size of the app.

As in the current Installation builder where you can select what Additional installers to include such as the RTE.  You should also be able to select what subcomponents of the RTE to include.  I'm sure that wouldn't be difficult for people to figure out.

Cheers,

Battler.

Hello,

If you would like to see the run-time broken into different components, you might consider filling out a product suggestion.
