Increment and decrement buttons on a ring control are greyed out

Hello,

The check box for showing the increment and decrement buttons on a ring control are greyed out. Does anyone know why? I have verified that the ring is a control as opposed to a indicator.

Is this for any ring control (there are several) that you plop down on the front panel, or is this a specific control that you have? Is it a custom control? Is it a strict typedef? (Although if it were a strict typedef and the increment/decrement were made not visible the menu item wouldn't even be there). What version of LabVIEW? Do you have an example you can post?

Hello,

Here are the answers to your questions...

1.) Labview version 8.20
2.) This is a menu ring from the "Ring and Enum pallette" from the Labview controls.
3.) This is not a standard control

Hello,

I made a mistake is my earlier reply, this IS A STANDARD CONTROL. I also called the NI help line and they were able to confirm that the increment and decrement button check box for a menu ring control are greyed out.

A menu ring doesn't have the increment/decrement controls. This is by design. That's why the check box in the properties window is greyed out.

Hello,

Thanks for getting back to me. the controls are greyed out because they do not exist on the Menu ring control. This is different from what I saw in another part of this forum about using event structures on a Menu ring.

Thanks again

"the controls are greyed out because they do not exist on the Menu ring control."

Errr... yes, I believe that's exactly what I said in my last response. Smiley Wink

Don't know what you could be referring to, as there is no event specific to the increment/decrement controls. All that they would do (if they existed) is to change the value of the control, and the applicable event would be the "Value changed" event. Where exactly did you read this?
