Install without NIMax

Downloaded a trial version of LabView 13. However Hardware Support did not install. Got the following error (see attachment): "The specified folder does not contain the correct volume".

Any suggestion for resolving this issue?

Need NIMax to resolve communication error using serial port to external equipment. VISA errors.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

it seems to me that LV was installed correctly. The next step the installer wants to perform is to install the device driver DVD.

The logical question then would be:

Did you also download this?

If not, your LV installation cannot interact with hardware...yet. You can download individual drivers/frameworks (e.g. DAQmx or VISA) which will also include NI MAX.

Dave,

like what Norbert said, you need to download and install all devices drivers from the same website where you got LabVIEW 2013.

If you are registered, I believe you can open this page and download the drivers.

In the end we resolved the problem by downloading the latest version of Visa (5.4).

Thanks much for all of your help, as well as the rapid replies. I am posting this a little late, but we have already encountered this issue twice, and this download resolved the problems.

Hi Dave-

The warning you're seeing isn't a "problem" per se- the font is in red to ensure that you're aware that although you selected to install drivers from the features menu, they weren't included in the distribution you used and an additional disc or download is required to use hardware.  If you'd prefer not to see this message, you'll want to deselect the "NI Device Drivers" option in the installer or if you do need the drivers, download them separately or use the NI Device Drivers discs that should have come with your hardware or software physical media.
