Installation problem with Nidaq 6.1 and Labview 6i (Student)

I am trying to load the Labview Supports Files according to KnowledgeBase 20O615V2 "How do I use Older Versions of NI-DAQ (6.8 or earlier) with LabVIEW 6.x" I'm using LabVIEW 6i (6.0 Student) and loading Drivers NiDaq 6.1 which I downloaded. At step 3, I get the message saying that there is a newer version of the NiDAQ install available and I cannot continue. I have supplied the correct location of Labview and selected 5.0 as the version as instructed. What do I do next?

Hey Redroad,

There are a couple of possible reasons that could explain the current problem you are seeing. The first is that the version of LabVIEW that you are using (Student Edition 6i), does not support any version of DAQ other than the copy that was shipped with it. The other problem that you might be having is that you actually do have a newer version of NI-DAQ on your machine. Did you uninstall any version of NI-DAQ before proceeding with trying to install a different version? Any machine can only have one version of
NI-DAQ installed in order to verify proper functionality.

I have a strong feeling that you are going to be limited, however, by the fact that you are using the Student Edition of LabVIEW 6i. I hope this helps you out.

I got past this problem. I didn't take seriously enought the advise to download all of the distribution disk for NiDAQ 6.1 and run the version on the disk image version rather than the install in the "Complete" version.
