I am running LabView 8.2 on Windows XP, with a NI PCI-MIO-16XE-50 card. I have tried installing DAQmx 9.1.1 on my system but the DAQ libraries are not appearing in the folder C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2\vi.lib.
Here's the sequence of events:
After adding the DAQ card to my computer, I installed DAQmx 9.4. When I learned that DAQmx 9.4 is incompatible with LabView 8.2, I uninstalled it and replaced it with DAQmx 9.1.1 and installed the patch.
I can view my device in MAX, but DAQ Assistant is not appearing under Functions>Express>Input in LabView.
Based on advice from the forums, I tried using Add/Remove Programs to modify NI DAQmx 9.1.1. Under "Application Development Support" I can see that "LabView 8.2 Support" has a green check, but the text in the right panel says "This feature will not be installed. A higher version of this product is already installed on your computer."
I tried to "Repair" NI DAQmx 9.1.1 (and the patch) but did not see a difference.
I assume I need to uninstall the higher version of "LabVIEW 8.2 Support" before installing NI-DAQ 9.1.1, but there is no item by this name under Add/Remove Programs > National Instruments Software. How can I uninstall this higher-version LabView Support so that DAQmx 9.1.1 will install properly?
Or if that's not the source of my problem, what is?
Thanks!

Hi MaryamAli,
In Measurement and Automation Explorer you can see what drivers are installed on your system. Check to make sure DAQmx 9.4 is uninstalled and DAQmx 9.1.1 is installed.
Try restarting your computer and see if DAQ Assistant shows up.
If that doesn't work, uninstall DAQmx 9.1.1 and then reinstall it.
1. Follow the directions in this KnowledgeBase and remove NI DAQmx 9.1.1.
2. Download DAQmx 9.1.1 and reinstall it.
3. Restart your computer and see if DAQ Assistant shows up in your Functions palette.
Hope this helps.

Hi Rohama K,
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately these steps were unable to fix my problem. Is there anything else I can try?
Maryam.

Hi,
What version of Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) are you using?
Does Test Panels in MAX work for your device? This Dev Zone outlines how to use Test Panels in MAX. Try it. If that doesn't work, I would recommend uninstalling DAQmx driver, then LabVIEW. Once that is done, reinstall LabVIEW and then the DAQmx driver that is compatible with LabVIEW 8.2 (DAQmx 9.1.1).

The Test Panels are working fine. I was able to use the Digital I/O test panel to control a device connected to the DAQ card.

Also, I am using MAX 5.0.

Try to reinstall by using Command Line Window and creating a log file. This will let us know if an error is occurring when you try to reinstall.
1. Open up a Command Line Window
2. Type: cd <Path to the folder that has DAQmx 9.1.1 Setup executable>
*Note: There is a space between cd and the file path.
3. Press Enter. You should see the path change.
4. Type: Setup.exe /reinstall /log reinstallLogFile.txt
*Note: There is a space after Setup.exe, /reinstall and /log.
5. Press Enter. This should run the reinstall for DAQmx and create a log file in the same folder as Setup.exe called reinstallLogFlie.
Take a look at the text file and check to see if there are any errors. Also, post that log file.

Hi Rohama K,
I have followed your instructions. The resulting log file is 28 MB so I'm having some difficulty identifying errors in it. Is there a particular phrase I should search for?
I am attaching the log file to this message in a zipped folder.
Thank you for your continued help!

Looks like there are a few errors occurring when installing DAQmx 9.1.1. Could attach a technical report that is created my MAX. Follow the directions in this KnowledgeBase?
At this point, I would recommend uninstalling DAQmx and then LabVIEW completely and then reinstalling LabVIEW and then DAQmx but there is one thing I want to check before you do that. Also, let me know if that isn't an option.

I have generated the technical report using MAX and attached the file here.
I would like to avoid uninstalling LabVIEW if at all possible. I don't think our institution has LabVIEW 8.2 installation disks available any longer, and that's the version I need to use for compatibility reasons.
Thanks for your continued help on this matter!
