Interesting... LV 2021 Community Edition only available as x64?

@billko wrote:

It seems that even though the software page says 64 bit (and doesn't let you change), clicking on "Download" bring you to a page where it tries to download the (assumed, because it has "x86" in the name) 32-bit version.  But when the download commences, it brings you to a "page not found" dialog.  Same with clicking the "if the downlad did not automatically start" link.

I think they messed up the link, probably the "64 bit" non-choice made it look in the wrong place so it could not find the Community Edition to download.

Edit:

Oops, you snooze, you lose.  Thanks for the update!

oh, but there's still the x86 - good catch

Please say this is NOT SO!

The vast majority of LabVIEW tool kits are still 32 bit only!

Depends a lot what you mean with Toolkits. If you talk about NI LabVIEW Toolkit extensions and drivers, there is very little left that is 32-bit only aside from some legacy drivers that will never get updated anyhow to 64-bit.

If you talk about 3rd party drivers, especially instrument drivers from manufacturers relying on the use of DLLs to "protect" their precious IP about how to talk to their device, then that is another story. But that is not something NI can change. They can't go with a gun to these people and tell them, update your driver or be dead! 😁

the old 3d graphs (active x) appear to be 32 bit only, I can't load those in LabView20202  64 Bit, but in LabView 2019 32bit

besides that, I haven't run into other 32-64bit issues, so far

And that is unlikely to change. If anything changes it is highly more likely that that Toolkit is simply retired completely. It's quite hard to create ActiveX components nowadays, also in the latest Microsoft Visual Studio editions.

Seems the Community edition is all back to 32bit for windows.

(Maybe it really never was 64bit?)

I sure would prefer the 64bit version...

It never was 64-bit since the Linx Toolkit was (is?) only available in 32-bit. Supposedly it should go to 64-bit in the next release but don’t hold your breath. The gremlins might eat it 😀.

Can't they ever get this right the first time?  It seems like this always happens when a new version of LV is released.

(At least it points to the 32-bit version.)
