Internal Error 2355

I have LabVIEW 5.1.1 and wanted to install LabVIEW 6i. When I ran the setup, I encountered "Internal Error 2355". I called Tech Support and they recommended me to install it from the network. Apparently this was a known bug. Thus, I did as told but the problem persists. I then copied the setup files onto using a different computer and yet the problem persists.

I then decided to uninstall LabVIEW 5.1.1 and proceeded to install LabVIEW 6i and the installation went without any errors.

Has anyone seen this problem? Is there a fix? I have had LabVIEW 5.1.1 and LabVIEW 6i co-exist in a previous setup without problems but I haven't quite figured out the problem on this machine. Any ideas?

Let me know. Thanks.

Mr Koh;

Labview 6i should coexist with Labview 5.1.1 without any problem.
The CD drive is (usually) the source of the problem when the error 2355 shows. Here are 3 ways around it that have worked: 1. Copy the contents of the CD to the hard drive and install from there. 2. If the PC is on a network, put the CD in another drive on another computer, share the drive and install from there. 3. Replace the CD drive.
Hope this helps.

Filipe Altoe,

As I have mentioned earlier, I have LabVIEW 5.1.1 and LabVIEW 6i co-exist in a different machine. Since I have a new PC recently and wanted the same setup, I decided to install both versions of LabVIEW.

I also mentioned that I did copy the files onto the network using a different computer but the problem persists.

I don't think it's the CD ROM drive that is causing the problem. The reason is that I was able to install LabVIEW 6i (without problems) from the CD-ROM after I uninstalled LabVIEW 5.1.1.

I'm guessing that there are something in either my registry or shared DLLs that is causing the Internal Error 2355.

I spoke with Chris Nelson (NI) and we finally found a solution to this problem. However, we still do not have an answer on why this happens.

For future references, if you do run into the same problem, here is what you do. Install LabVIEW 6i first. After verifying that LabVIEW 6i works, install LabVIEW 5.1.1. This is how I got mine to work.

One last thing, just in case some people still think it is a CD-ROM related problem, I am using LG CD-ROM (no idea what speed) on my new machine and I had an LG CD-RW drive on a different one. The one with the CD-RW drive installs properly but not on the CD-ROM. For those of you who had this problem before, what CD-ROM did you use?
