Internet-Toolkit: Problems with links to Excel-Files

Hi everybody,

i found a strange behavior of the HTTP-Server that comes with the
Internet-Toolkit:
When i post a link to an Excel-file in a HTML-Code like

kumulierte Auswertung lokal kopieren

the browser on click opens the ascii-text of the file (of course that is
only rubbish) in the browser-window instead of downloading the file and
starting excel.
This is independent to the browser (netscape, ie, opera all do the
same).

This only happens with links to Excel-files, with MSWord or
PDF-documents the links work properly.

Any idea?

Regards
Martin

Martin,

I would recommend checking out whether you experience this behavior when you try and download an .xls file from another site. There might be a setting with your operating system that you need to change. Here is a random page I picked off the web:

http://grp.dhs.state.tx.us/ITS/Itsforms.htm

If it seems to only happen with the link you created with LabVIEW, go ahead and contact us at technical support so we can work through the problem with you.

Hello from Greece,

Ihave the same problem.I cannot open microsoft ofice files through the G HTML web Server.(Internet Toolkit)
The files appear in ASCII characters.
I can open pdf or download Zip files.
If there is already a solution or a tip please inform me.

Eric,

I would recommend the same troubleshooting step as the post above. Which VI are you using and which versions of LabVIEW and the internet toolkit?
