Intoduction to Labview

Howdy!

I have a basic question about LabView. I am working with Labview at the
University, but I do not own a version at home. Does anyone know where I
can get one version (perhaps a very old one) to a low price to learn the
basic syntax (Labview differs a bit from the normal, line-oriented
languages I am used to...)?

Thank you for an answer!

Look at your book store or check with Addison Wesley for a book/student
edition combo. Another way to go is just to get the demo version to use
at home. I'm sure if you go to the natinst.com web site you can get a
demo CD mailed out to you. The demo allows most everything the real
version does, but has some timeouts to prevent extended use.

Have a look at :

http://www.natinst.com/labviewse/default.htm

This describes the LabVIEW student edition which is an almost completely
functional version of LabVIEW 5.0. The only things it lacks are :
1. The ability to integrate external code with LabVIEW (i.e. CIN or DLL).
2. The ability to use the ActiveX container feature in LabVIEW.
3. The ability to create a stand-alone executable using Application Builder.

In addition, every front panel and diagram window will say 'Student Edition'
at the
bottom. The same will be printed with every printed page.

You don't need any of these features to learn LabVIEW, and in most cases
won't need them to use LabVIEW in real world tasks.

Regards,
Tom
