Is it possible to wire daq to i/o ports of mcu and connect it to pc via usb?

I am doing a project for my university and i have a HC12 MCU whose serial port is currently being used. I need to connect the MCU to a laptop or PC. Since i cant use the serial port on the MCU, I was wondering if i can connect a DAQ to the I/O ports of the MCU and connect the DAQ to a laptop using the USB cable? Would that be possible?

What sort of DAQ device do you have? What signals is your HS12 MCU expecting? What specs and requirements does it have? Is that the exact model number? Who is the manufacturer? What are you hoping the DAQ card will be able to do for you? Are you reading analog input or generating signals? Are you doing digital I/O? Will you be using LabVIEW to program this MCU?

I need more information before I can make a suggestion or give you some insight into the application.
