Is the 9862 compatibile with a 9112 backplane and a 9024 CPU?

I get conflicting information regarding the aforementioned subject.  I've tried the XNET test code and it doesn't appear to be working with my cRIO set up.

- the website for the NI9862 says: In CompactRIO, use the NI 9862 in NI cRIO-911x/908x chassis with LabVIEW FPGA installed

- the online configurator mentions only the cRIO 907x chassis as incompatible with that module (and that's true for my experience)

So your configuration should be ok. Did you call your local NI sales guy?
