I am trying to connect a camera to any port of the computer (USB, firewire, serial, etc.) and use LabVIEW to display the pictures/video on the screen.

NI-IMAQ for USB cameras
will suit your needs.

If you don't have IMAQ vision, you can try out IVision LabVIEW toolkit.
Get a free download here:
