Keithley 740 driver

Hello,

I'm trying to set up a series of thermocouples to be read into LabView using a Keithley 740 System Scanning Thermometer. I've searched for a driver on the NI and keithley websites, as well as a general web search, with no luck. I was wondering if anyone had one written or knew where I might find one. Failing that, any help in writing one would be much appreciated as I'm quite new to LabView. Thank you.

I looked through our instrument driver network at http://ni.com/idnet, and unfortunately I didn't find anything there.  You might try contacting Keithley to see if they have a LabVIEW driver available.

If you're going to create your own, there are several good example programs to start from, which can be found in the Example Finder.  You can get to the Example Finder by clicking "Find Examples" from the Help menu or splash screen of LabVIEW.  If your instrument uses serial communication, I'd look at Basic Serial Write and Read.vi.  If it uses GPIB, I'd look at LabVIEW <-> GPIB.  Those VIs will show you how to communicate with the instrument; you'll have to parse the data yourself, but it's just a bunch of string manipulation after the communication is working.  Good luck!
