LV 2014 fails to load: Complains of "OpenSSL_Uplink" and "no OpenSSL_Applink

So I'm stumped on this.

I had a working installation of LV 2014, with all the latest patches and updates (but not updated to LV 2015 yet) which I have been using for over a year.  When I click on the launch icon now, however, the splash screen displays and then an error box comes up with the following message:

OpenSSL Error.GIF

I've tried re-installing LV 2014 from the original discs and have had zero change in behaviour.

Note that this issue differs from known bug 235019,  because my error occurs on LAUNCH, not on exit.  This is more serious because it prevents from doing anything at all with labview.

Google is no help at all.

Does anyone know why this could occur?  Since I've re-installed LV multiple times, I wonder if this is even a LV issue at all?  Where else can I look?

My computer is running Windows 7 Enterprise, SP1, 64 bit.  The LV program is running in 32 bit mode.

Thanks for any help at all.

If you look at the properties of the "launch icon" (whatever that means, i guess a start menu shortcut), what exe does it point to?

Also try to run LabVIEW directly from the executable in the "program files ... " hierarchy.

altenbach:

The launcher points to here:  "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\LabVIEW.exe".

Running directly from the Program Files directory doesn't change anything.

I also tried checking the "Run as administrator" option, that didn't help.

I did notice, however, that the box pops up when Labview attempts to connect to source control (as indicated by the status messages in the lower left corner of the splash screen).  We use MKS for course control.  The MKS application is not reporting any problems (i.e. I can open it and use it fine).  But this may be a clue for someone who understands the connection between LV and MKS better than I do.
