LV 7.0 DSC as non administrator user

Hi all,

is it possible to run LV 7 DSC as a user not having administrator rights
("at least" power user)?

If I try to start LV 7 DSC as a power user, LV 7 wants to install the
"Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine", but can't because it's not
privilleged enough. The "funny" thing is: I've installed it as THIS user
already (giving this user administrator rights on this machine shortly).

So what now? I don't want to give any normal user administrator rights! And
because of the unfortunate design of LabVIEW, the DSCEngine seems still to
need a user logged on to run (and it still blocks the log off...).

Thanks for any hints,
Carsten

One remark I forgot: pressing quickly "ESC" to cancel the installation will
start LabVIEW, but that's still no long time solution.

This is definately not intended behaviour. I have reported it to R&D.
When I was testing it, I actually got a error message when I was logged on as a Power User. The message said that I need to have a strong SA password. It came up 3 times and then LabVIEW came up. Is this the same error that you get? Interestingly enough one workaround is actually to reduce the user privaleges. When I was logged in as a User or Guest then I just saw the installer come up but it never ran so I never got an error message and LabVIEW started.
Once again this is not intended behaviour.

No. I get an error message like: the SqlRun.msi is not valid or
you're not allowed to install...

I updated the SQL thingy from MS and now these install dialogs appear 3 or 4
times and then LV starts without this error message. But these dialog aren't
nice and don't appear if your administrator.

Anyway: my guess is, that some part of LV or of the SQL service tries to
read a registry key it hasn't access to and then decides it needs to install
the SQL service. But naturally it isn't allowed to if you're no
administrator.

Cheers
