LV 8.6 Tab Control and free text labels

When inserting a free text label into a tab control the insert point for the test seems to be about 45 pixels higher than the actual position of the cursor.

This persists through a LabVIEW restart. Seems to be present  regardless of the ficade (3D, System, or Classic)

I currently only have one 8.6 system so I am not sure if this is a machine specific thing or an 8.6 thing.

Is anybody else seeing this?

I do see this behavior in LV 8.6.  I do not see it in LV 8.5.1.  Probably a bug.

Confirmed on a couple of colleague's machines as well.

Hi Gsussman,

If you mean the free text for the tab labels then there is a whitespace below the actual label when you click on the tab label and that is expected behavior. Is that what you are referring to?

What I mean is that when I have the free text tool selected, and click inside the bounds of a tab control the actual text insertion point is approximately 45 pixels above the current position of the cursor. The screen shot below should detail what I mean. The LV cursor does not show up on a screen capture so you will have to take my word for it that it is where the "X" is.

If you happen to try this near the top edge of the tab control, then the tab will "Auto Grow" to deal with the fact that you are inserting text above the bounds of the control......very annoying!

OK, I can reproduce this too. It happens only when we pick the text tool from the tools palette and then click on the tab area.

Everything works fine when I place a free label from the decorations palette, for example.

Something else (probably related) is messed up:

In LabVIEW 8.5.1 and earlier, you could shift+right-click to get the tools palette. In LabVIEW 8.6, this no longer works on a tab control and we get the control pallette instead, same as when right-clicking without the shift key. A definite loss in functionality.

The Shift+Right Click functionality and the tools palette has been identified by another thread.

Hi Gsussman,

That is indeed unexpected behavior. I have filled a Corrective Action Request for it and it should be fixed in the next release. The CAR #, in case you want to have a look is 124962.
