LabVIEW 8.2 Professional Development Version w/ all the toolkits?

Hi!

A few months ago I received my 8.20 discs.  A few days ago I was reinstalling the beast after a format, and decided to try the "Toolkit Software" CD.  I had tried that CD in the past when v8 first came out and found that my CD key would not work.  However, a few days ago on the new 8.2 discs I found that my license key worked on ALL of the toolkit software (Fuzzy Logic PID controllers, Microsoft Office Report toolkit, state machine/diagram toolkit...everything.).

Was I always suppose to have access to these toolkits w/ my professional development license?  Is this something new?  Should I not have access to this toolkit software and what happened was some sort of fluke?

I ask because I do not want to become dependent on these (outside of just tinkering with them) if a future update will lock them out.

Thanks for your time,
-nickerbocker

Hello

Depending on the exact development package you have, you should have access to a most of the toolkits.  NI recently changed how it was bundling some of the software packages.  I think it was right after 8.0 was released.  The result was that even more of the tool kits are now included with the various development packages.

You could always e-mail NI support your license # and let them verify what you should have.

Once you use a couple of the toolkits, you will definitely not want to go back.

With a PDS (Professional Development Suite) license you should be OK.
license you got it should say what kind of product you bought!
In doubt call your local NI office.

Really? You're supposed to get toolkits with LabVIEW 8.2? Does this apply to upgrades done via the SSP, or just to first-time purchases? I didn't get any toolkits with our upgrade. Smiley Sad

Hi Smercurio,

it depends on your license!
We received our november SSP update last week with the toolkit CD (nothing new though)

Well, we have the Professional Development version as well, but we didn't get a CD with toolkits. Bummer.

You could try downloading the latest version of the toolkits and installing them individually with your license.

Thought of that, but unfortunately most of the toolkits exist in demo form only or are not even available for download. Also, depending on whether you go to www.ni.com/downloads or ftp.ni.com you get different listings.

I'm just going to follow up with NI to verify this against out license. I'm not dire need of any of the toolkits as I've done fine without them, but if we're entitled to them, no harm in having them, right?

The difference is between LabVIEW Professional and the NI Developer Suite. There are several suite options but they all include various toolkits and a quarterly update.
