LabVIEW Home 2014 no simulation palette

Hello,

I have successfully installed the LabVIEW Home edition 2014 and plan to do some PID control simulations.

However I see the PID palette but not the simulation palette.

From the documentation I am under the im[ression that the complete Control and Simulation functionality is included.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for any advice.

Could you point to the documentation that gives you that impression? I doubt it should be included, the home edition doesn't even support the picture control or event structure, IIRC?

Anyway, I'd advice to wait a little while (not too long) for the LabVIEW 2020 community edition.

The community edition will include everything that the pro version has, and will additionally include and support the Linx toolkit. It will be free to use for non commercial, personal use (do read the license though). This community edition will be released with the normal edition from now on.

What gave you the idea that LV 2014 Home Edition does not support event structures?  I'm not sure what you mean by "picture control"?  The first time around, Home Edition did not include the app builder, but AFAIK the last version of Home Edition did and has the same features as the Student Edition?  (At least the watermark would suggest so.)

Hello guys,

Thanks for the replies.

my only question was about the simulations palette missing in the LabVIEW 2014 Home edition.

Anyway, I will wait for the 2020 Community edition which hopefully comes soon.

According to this link, it would seem that LV Home Edition comes with the LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module, so perhaps it was not selected on install?  I'd try running the installer just to make sure it was selected, and if already was, then try  repairing the installation.  (FYI - I have LV 2014 Home Edition, and the Sim palette is populated with PID and Fuzzy Logic sub-palettes.)

Hello Billko,

You are right that the PID palette and the Fuzzy logic palette is there, but not the Simulations palette that allows to make transfer functions as shown in the picture below.

I believe now that it is not part of the 2014 Home edition, so I need to find a way around it.

The PID examples show a Plant vi that I am now using and trying to find out how this actually works, but I had preferred to put in a transfer function.

As a control’s engineer I want to do some dynamic controls simulations.

Anyway thanks for your quick answers.

Greetings

It isn't exactly transparent:

This doesn't include the home\student editions. I guess mixed home and base version up.

There was a time the base version didn't include event driven development. The picture control functions where not included either. Not sure how to explain picture control in another way.

There are other undocumented differences between versions. For instance the full development doesn't support XControls or Expression nodes.
