Hi Jabili,
I am not sure if you are asking if PDA supports serial communications, but the answer is that it does. Basically, LabVIEW talks serial using the VISA VIs or the Serial Compatibility VIs. It is left to the hardware and driver of the PDA to take those serial commands and turn them into IrCOMM. Also, have you tried using ring and enum controls with the PDA and are you getting a specific error or is this a more general question? I’m not exactly sure which PDA would be best for your application. I would recommend looking at the PDA User Manual to see which PDAs do support the PDA module and rule those that do not off the list. I do know that PDA applications run on Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices.

Hi jabili,
There are a few great knowledge base articles that discuss how you can implement serial communication with your PDA device and how to use LabVIEW serial VIs to commuicate with the PDA. There is also a great NI Developer Zone article that talks about Using the LabVIEW PDA module for Serial communication. Please let us know if you have any questions regarding this information. Have a great one!
