LabVIEW VI will not execute -- confusing error message

I am using an non-National Instruments DAQ board but I believe it has been configured correctly.  When I run the VI I get an error message (see attached file).

Error -1 orrcured at daqOpen
called by: IO_AI Group Config
called by IO_AI Control

I get this same error with several VIs.  Any ideas?

What version of LV?
Manufacturer/Model of DAQ card?
Is it advertised as LV compatible?
Are there LV drivers for it?
Does the card show up in MAX?

Correct, it won't work in MAX.

Are the IOTech supplied vi's working? That may be a place to start.
