LabVIEW community edition won't activate

Hi

Mr._Jim made this statement :

My biggest gripe (besides installation annoyances) is that it's 32-bit, but it's not really that big of a deal, and besides, it's free.

I find it sensible that the Windows Community version is 32 bits (only).

It is meant as a student/hobbyist tool and it works with the Hobbyist Toolkit, which is also 32 bits (only).

The Community versions for macOS and Linux are 64 bits (only).

Regards

PS : Getting the Hobbyist Toolkit to connect to RP targets is pretty unpredictable even in 2025, so I am not sure how many actually uses it anymore. Which is a pity now NI states they will re-engage in education and related.

It worked pretty flawlessly in the past when I tried it but that was ca 2020-2021 and with the Hobbyist Toolkit installed into a Professional Version of LabVIEW rather than activating the Community Edition. Since then the Raspberry Pi OS got 64-bit, security standards tend to throw all kinds of wrenches into the wheels and the Community Installation and Activation has been continuously a mixed bag of goodies at best.

Hi Rolf

Not intending to hijack the thread. But related to the Hobbyist connection issue.

I installed LabVIEW 2025 Q3 onto two different partitions. And the matching Hobbyist toolkit.

On one partition I have connectivity to the RP 5 as expected.

On the other there is no connection and the log shows :

RealVNC connects to the RP 5 without problems booted from either partition installation.

Given that context, it does make sense. 👍

I was doing something completely inappropriate with scripting just to see if I could (for science, of course, and also for a presentation).  Despite my best efforts, memory usage was creeping up, and at 3+ gigabytes, it of course crashed. My use case was absolutely outlandish, so I wasn't at all disappointed. 😆

I'd really like to start playing with the hobbyist stuff. I can think of a lot of uses for it in automating things.
