Is there a fix or a patch for this. It happens both while developing and in standalone applications built with the app-builder.

David,
Unfortunately, I see this problem all the time in LabVIEW 7.0 too. I have Windows XP. There is a long thread on this problem already
here
.
At the end of the thread there's a link to a tool that might help remedy the problem.
