LabView Installation Bug

Hi all,

I was told by Mathworks support that LabView writes registries that incorrectly use the Flexlm license manager and would cause problems with any other application that does this.  I don't want to have to dump LabView, so can anyone confirm this?  This is the email I got:

Hello,

Please remember that Flexlm is not our product and that many programs use it to manage licenses. If NI has chosen to put this value in the registry it will cause an error not only with MATLAB but any other product which uses Flexlm. My suggestion would be to contact NI for a fix or continue to use the -c in your startup icon.

There is an entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/FLEXlm License Manager/NILM License Manager.

It has several entries under C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\License Manager\<TBD>

Where <TBD> is "Licenses", "\Bin\mgrd.exe", "\Bin\mgrd.log"

And last but not least one entry that is simply "NILM License Manager"

without the directory. Is there a known conflict between National Instruments Labview (which is what this is) and MATLAB?

Thanks,

Jason

Hello,

You can search your registry for Flexlm (run regedit from Start-->Run) to see if there are entries pointing to other license file locations.

The fact that -c works means that there is another Flexlm application causing the issue. If you are unable to find an environment variable or registry entry then you will have to continue to launch with the shortcut which points to the correct license file location.
