I have been replying to your previous message about using a Joystick with LVRT. I think your question comes from there. Look at the answer I posted there.
As far as this question goes, it is possible to have two applications running at the same time on two different targets, launched from the same computer.
When you are targeted to the RT machine, you will have the application started. The you can simply select Operate>>Switch execution target>> LabVIEW for Windows. This will let you move away from the RT target without closing the RT application that is running. This is what is normally done when debugging RT applications that communicate with a Host application.

Yes you can have two versions of LV running on the same PC -- one for Windows and another targetted to RT. See the following thread for two ways of doing this:
