I recently took over managing the license for Labview for an engineering department and want to upgrade from 2010 DS2 to 2012 DS2 on a Windows 2003 SP2 server. I have copied the disks to the server to install from there. I have VLM 2.1.1 and would like to upgrade to 3.0. I would think it would be a good idea to upgrade the VLM before labview. Any benefit or concerns here? What are my considerations? Will the user information get transferred? Any bugs I should be aware of? When I go to install Labview 2012, what do I need to consider? Do I simply install over 2010? I have read about and taken the web tutorials for createing the installers. That part looks pretty straight forward. I really need some basic guidance or common gatchas as this is my first time installing and don't want people screaming at me because their VI's don't work or they can't access the floating, user or PC based licenses.
