Did you mean:

Labview 6.0 or Labwindows/cvi 6.0 ??

Hi NI community,

By any chance, do anyone know where I can get labview 6.0, labwindows/cvi 6.0? or just any labview/labwindows version that works with ni-daq 4.9 or ni-daq 6.1? I've searched all over the NI website and can only find upgrades for them, and I even emailed NI, to sadly find out they were not available.... Any assistance in that matter is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Stephen Abraham

Is there any reason you cannot work with more recent versions of the NI DAQ drivers?

Sadly, yes. The daq boards I am working with, AT-MIO-16L-9, can only be supported by NI-DAQ 6.1 or earlier. I am unable to even get NI-DAQ 6.1 to work right now because I continuously keep getting a "control panel error while working with hdwwiz.cpl". I only have NI-DAQ 4.9 working, it's bothersome, but it's the best I can do at the moment. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations on the issues?

To address a problem that may or may not be causing you issues, ensure you only have one version of NI-DAQ installed. Having multiple versions can cause issues.

Yes. buy an M series DAQ.  Its a lot cheaper that trying to find drivers for obsolete equipment that work on modern OSs

I thought that might have been the cause, so I installed a fresh copy of Windows 2000 pro and proceeded to install just the ni-daq 6.1, but sadly nothing changed. The only other thing I thought could have been the cause was that the ni-daq 6.1 I was trying to install was corrupted for some reason, but for that matter, I don't know where to get another copy of it other than ni's website. As for ni-daq 4.9, I assumed the problem was the driver architecture, it was designed for 98 and earlier (i think), so with windows 2000, there was a 50/50 chance of it working.

Haha, that was my suggestion when I was given the boards to work with. Sadly, my employer would rather stick with these units, so my only options were to get these working and use their related software for my project. Although its a bit of a hassle, it's certainly a good learning experience for me

That is when you put the numbers in front of them.  A modern DAQ board is $700 (looking at the USB-6210).  Let's just say your billing rate is $50/hour.  If you spend 2  8-hour days trying to get the old stuff to work, you just broke even (actually spent more money).  And you also lose the benefits of using modern computers and OS, support, etc.

I have to say that a lot of decisions are made simply because it would take more money to discuss it than to just make a decision.  For instance, a snap decision was made about how to construct a cable because it was going to take more money discussing the pros and cons of each way of doing it than to just throw a dart.  (To be fair, each choice would render an excellent cable that met the requirements.)
