Labview 8.0 Activation

I develop code  for complete test rigs that are used for validation of hydraulic components like pumps, valves etc. Till the time I was using LV7.1, I used to  load it on the machine PC  for developing the code and simultaneous try out. Once the code  was complete,  I convert  it into an EXE  alongwith the run time engine using the App builder and uninstall the LV 7 from the machine PC just before it was delivered to the client. Thus at any time, only one copy of the licensed software used to be active.

But with the advent of the activation procedure with LV 8.0,  things have changed.  I run it on my notebook, develop the code and transfer only the EXE  to the machine PC. Every small correction ( believe me these are plenty in the initial stages of code development ) needs a wait for recompiling the EXE.

Is there any other additional activation procedure that  is available ( at additional cost ) which will permit me run the software on two machines at a time ?

Thanks

I beleive that with 8.x you are allowed to get activation codes for up to 3 PC's at work, so long as only one is being used at one time, plus you are allowed to install a copy at home. It should be in the EULA or see help regarding activation.

This is not an awnser to the question, but it might help...

If you install the runtime engine (for LV5, 6, 7, 8, 8.2) you can also run VI's that are created with that version. So you don't need to build an executable. Simply copy the code, and run the VI's like you would in the development environment. So install LabVIEW on the development machine, and the runtime engine on the destination PC. Develop the VI's on a shared drive or network, and test the VI's on the destination PC.

Hello Weibe,

Thanks for your reply.

Yes that seems to be a workable solution. I sure will give it a try.

It defenitley looks to be a  possible answer for my problem .

I also studied the EULA as advised by another member and it does permit the  activation of  4 instances of the software provided only one is used at any time.  And there is also another option to  activate 4 different instances ina year provided I prove that it has been unistalled in the previous instance.

But instaed of reading all these fine print I think it is far better to go the way  you suggested.  And just have one activation on the notebook.
