Labview Project Specification

I recently finished reading the LabVIEW Style Book and would like to use the project specification referenced in chapter 2.  Does anyone have any examples they would be willing to share?  I just kind of stare at the template and wonder where do I start, maybe I'm making it more difficult than it has to be.  I'm not a software engineer by trade so terms like "high-level objectives" go right over my head.  Thanks.

Hey MeCoOp,

I haven't read the book but from looking it up on Amazon, it looks like a pretty handy guide!

In terms of the templates you are looking for, there are a number of VI templates under File>>New... where you can open VIs that already have State Machine, Producer/Consumer, etc. templates. As for Project Templates, the same location has Real-Time, FPGA, etc. templates. If this is something exclusive to the training material in the book, have a look here.

Thanks have a great day!

Thanks for the reply.  I'm actually looking for info regarding a written document like the template attached.

I've read the book you are reading and I liked it. I don't have any examples for you.

However, I can tell what they mean by high level is that you should describe the system in broad and simple terms. It's not the place to get into specifics of how the system will work. Its more about what the system will do.

The software section is where you can get specific.

If you are looking for what a design can look like then look at the files I included in post # 22 of this thread.

I suggest you download the ppt so you can read the notes page.

The word version is an app to tie together a bunch of hardware to control a reactor.

The ppt is a design to characterize thermophotovoltaic diodes using a rack of HP hardware.

I am not offering these as a "gold standard" far from it. I offer them only for inspiration.

I found a cool design example just yesterday in the SysML specifications. Look at Annex B.

The style book is excellent, but about modelling, you should consult other sources as well.

I am also learning The LabVIEW Style Book, and I see The usefulness of this LabVIEW Project Specification.Through the Internet, it was found that Bloomy Company was ready to register to download the document, but it was never registered.

Thank you very much for your help.
