Labview Report Generation toolkit inserts strings rather than numbers into excel

I have upgraded to the latest NI Report Generator because PCs with latest version of Excel were not working.
I now find that "Easy Excel Table.vi" puts strings into the cells of my excel template rather than numeric values. Thus the graphs on the template remain blank because the cells to which they refer are not recognised as containing numbers.
If I click in a cell, then click the green tick, then the cell becomes recognised as numeric.
I've tried other vi s such as append table to report, and they all give this problem.
Can anyone help with this please ?
Thanks
Phil

This seems very strange. What version of the toolkit do you have? What version of Excel are you running. I have the report generation toolkit version 1.0.1 and Microsoft Excel 2002. I think you are correct that the numeric data gets converted to strings before being entered, but the data is in a general format in my excel code. Some more information about your setup might be helpful. Are you using a template?

Hi Phil,
I had this problem a couple of months ago. It's a bug in Microsoft Windows 97 that doesn't recognize the number strings as numbers but strings (?). Well anyway I recieved a vi from another developer who had a similar problem. I hope it works for you. It did for me.
Another solution is to insert an equation multiplying the numberic string in the cell by 1, this turns it into a "number".
