Hello Nine,
Are you seeing behavior as described in the link muks posted (thanks muks!)? Have you tried rebooting? Unfortunately if you are in a time crunch reinstalling is really the best thing to do, have you tried reinstalling?

Hello,
You noted that you are using Mac OS X 10.5.8 which is a supported OS, however what processor type do you have? Only Macs with Intel processors are supported for LabVIEW 8.6, note this KnowledgeBase:

Did you follow the installation procedure as noted in the release notes here:

Yep, my mac's an intel. Specs: 1.83 ghz intel core duo, 1.5gb ram. I install everything the way the release notes say, except I haven't even got a virus detection program to disable (insert mac joke).
Also, my installation process doesn't give me a choice between easy or custom install. And nowhere does it ask for a serial (I got the CD with the labview book and there's a serial on the CD sleeve).

Hello,
The only textbook I am seeing comes with LabVIEW Student Edition 8.2.1, found here:
http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6644
In this case this is a known issue, see this KnowledgeBase:

Either way with no errors and reinstalling not working I would recommend following the steps in that KnowledgeBase and requesting a new CD, it sounds like there is an issue with that CD.
