Lat/Lon Conversion

I'm using the "Read GPS Time, Position, Velocity" vi (found on the NI website) to display the GPS data from my unit (Garmin USB 18).  I'd like to convert the Lat and Lon that is being displayed now from ddmm.mmm to dd.dddd.  I was wondering if someone could help me out on this, I can't seem to get it right.

A vi or screen shot would be help if possible.

Thanks in advance...

Thanks for the link.

I actually found a site myself not long before I read your post.  I was just having some problems getting it wired and running correctly in LV, but everything seems to be okay.

Thanks again for your help though.

MAH- I'm trying to get the same GPS GARMIN usb 18 to read in LV.  I was wondering how you made that readgpstimepositionvelocity lib to work with the USB GPS? as far as i've looked, peopel are saying that this vi works for serial connections.  but i've also read that some people have used "spanner" from garmin to simulate a serial port?

atcx - I have used a program called "GPSGate" to create a virtual serial port that has allowed me to use the GPS vi's I have.  I have not used the Garmin Spanner software, but I believe it works in a similar manner and comes along with the Garmin software or whatever already or can be downloaded for free (I think, not for sure though).  That may be the way to go, using the Spanner software.

As I said, I hve only used GPSGate, and it has worked fine for me in the past.  I'm sure there are other types of software that would do the same type of thing, the Garmin Spanner software being one of them.

Thanks for the reply!  I'll definately check that out if spanner doesn't work.

For future reference, the spanner software can be found here: http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=1627
