Lavbiew "save to any version"

Hi,

I would like to know if National Instruments can provide an utility which automatically converts VIs from any version to any other version.

It could be an executable called from command line:
    Example:  "LV_Format Converter_8x_7x. exe <path_to_the_VI_in_8.x_format>  <path_to_the_VI_in_7.x_format>"


Personally I'm interesting to save the VIs developed in Labview 8.5 to Labview 7.1...
Our application has about 2500 VIs and we have to deliver it to different customers in different versions 8.5 and 7.1...

Hi rtrm001,

no, there is no such tool. You can always save to a version one step older (or to 8.0 from 8.5)...

When you have customers that use LV7.1 to LV8.5 you should develop the program in LV7.1 - the upward conversion is much easier and (most of the times) shows less hazzles. Otherwise you have to check for unsupported features of the older LV versions...

GerdW is correct. There is not an application that will accomplish this task. Here is a KnowledgeBase article concerning saving VIs into previous versions.
