License requirements for building distributable applications with Labview and IMAQ functions

I am using Labview 2010 and the IMAQ tool kit to create an imaging application. I am using a bitflow framegrabber and the IMAQ library to aquire images and carry out image processing functions.

If I wish to make a distributable application to run on PC's without Labview what do I have to do about licensing? I understand that I will need to upgrade the Labview license to the Professional version, but will I also have to upgrade the IMAQ license?

Regards

Luke

Hello Luke_A_P,

On your Development PC, you require:

  1. LabVIEW 2010 Professional Development System, for programming and building an executable.
  2. LabVIEW Vision Development Module, for programming image processing functions.
  3. Vision Acquisition Software, which is the driver for getting images into the PC and basic vision functions.

On the Deployment machine, you require:

  1. An executable built on the PC described above.
  2. A Vision Run-time License.
  3. A licensed copy of the Vision Acquisition Software.

If you purchase a new piece of hardware for image acquisition, such as a PCI Framegrabber, the price may already include a copy of the Vision Acquisition Software.  However, any time you deploy an executable which uses functions of the Vision Development Module, you must also use a Vision Run-time License.

The best thing you can do is call your local NI branch and ask for your Inside Sales Engineer, and discuss your complete application.  They can further advise you on which licenses you need for deploying your application in the most cost-effective manner.
