Linux labview -- I want to open emacs for one of my VIs

how does one open an application from a VI.  How would I open and emacs window ???
I have tried the VI called __System Exec__ but it seem to only return stdout.  I want to "launch" emacs

Hello,

What syntax did you use?  I think you should be able to use the same syntax in the command line input to the system exec VI as you would to launch emacs from an xterm.  For example, I think ./emacs should work (that's <dot><slash> before emacs... hard to read with this font I think 🙂  I have also confirmed that using just the string "emacs" (without quotes) into the command line argument of the system exec VI launches it as well.

Just an update:

./ should work only if you're in the emacs owning directory.  Optionally, I think you could provide the path to that directory first and wire a string such as:

<path to emacs dir> ./emacs

Sorry, not a Linux syntax guru 😉
