I would agree with Ton, in that case. Use VIs like the ones from OpenG or MGI. They're both free and open source. OpenG even has a VI which will write and read the entire panel to an INI file. They survive changes to the clusters as long as you don't rename controls and expect to get the saved value, or use the same label for more than one control.
