Logging data from RS-232 cable to Excel Spreadsheet

I am trying to read data coming from RS-232 cable using the example provided and combine it with the example Write Table to XL example. In other words I want to read the data coming from the RS-232 and place it on an excel spreadsheet. As anybody done this? Is this possible? I am still learning about LabView and I'm kind of short on time that is why I am trying to combine examples. Any help will be very much appreciated.

Do you want the data in an actual Excel spreadsheet (which would require ActiveX calls to Excel) or into a file such as .csv which can be opened by Excel?

Both parts of your question, (RS-232 data read and data to Excel) have been asked and answered countless times on these discussion forums.  Please try to search the forums on these topics and you will find numerous examples.  If you still have a problem, then post a specific question with the code that you have written that is causing you a problem.

you can also give the extension .xls  .  And for the user, will look like an excel file
