Logical question, it's not enought to know LabVIEW, it's necessary intelligence...

I remember the paraphrase.  It's either pretty close or right on.  Of course I remember the french version.. 😉

I don't think Michelle meant anything bad, but was rather under some bizarre pressure.  It's best to laugh it off and continue with business as usual.  🙂

Thanks Dennis for the info.  I will try it.

Thank you, Ben!  No apologies necessary on behalf of the forum...it was not the fault of the forum, but of one individual.  And it didn't really bother me all that much.  I have sufficient confidence in myself and in my abilities to be able to give that kind of thing the credit it deserves -- which would be none.  Smiley Wink

Actually, due to an old family joke, most of the attacks held quite a bit of humor for me.  There is a series of childrens' books, starring the Stupid family, that my family has always found utterly hilarious.  My dad started referring to himself as Father Stupid (FS, for short).  When my brother had children, he became Father Stupid and my dad became Grandfather Stupid.  That's usually how they sign themselves in family email threads.

Ray, I have to disagree with you, though -- I think that the OP was deliberately insulting, at least towards me personally.  I started out being willing to make allowances for possible external pressures, but eventually I ran out of cheeks.  Smiley Happy

Well, I will finally put my toe into this very heated water! With my significant other giving a seminar at a local company on dealing with cultural differences it puts me into the mind set that some of the difficulties in this thread, and others, are due to the language interface, as well as some possible cultural differences. Although I am curious about the sajir insistence, even after being told it wasn't helpful, of using different fonts and colors, but I have encountered that when dealing with the fluctuational polychromatic language of the Elliptoids of Argus. I don't want to loose a new member of the LabVIEW world, or even of this forum as I feel that it is one of the best resources in the LabVIEW "world", but do acknowledge that there are times when some posters, for whatever reason, do not seem to understand that arguing or insulting those that are trying to help them, for free, is not the best path to follow. As to turning the other cheek, four time and you're out ;-).    AK2DM, I didn't go through the entire posting you referenced, did I use the "older than dirt" comment in that thread? I have used it numerous times elsewhere, just curious. As I have said, my avatar (not nearly as kewl as the Avatars of the movie of that name!), the trilobyte (sp) was intentionally chosen, as it, as am I, is older than the dinosaurs.

I hope that we haven't lost a budding LabVIEWer, hope that viewing other threads may provide understanding of not only answers to LabVIEW questions but also the protocol and etiquette of the threads. I'm encouraged by the apparently enlightenment of Sajir.

You could argue that a given user's cultural, language, whatever issues may be a valid explanation for a given tone, manner of expression, word usage, ... in their communication.  But that is really no excuse for not spending some time browsing the forums to see basic things of what questions are asked, how they are answered, what kind of information to provide.

Too many times you see new forum members posting their first message just minutes after signing up to become a member.  People should be spending time on the forums.  Read a few pages worth of message threads.  If they actually did, and read things before they speak, they may actually find their particular question has already been answered hundreds of times before.  People can learn a lot by just reading and listening before actually "speaking".  And if they haven't found the answer to their question after putting a little bit of time in, then at least they'll have a clue as to the best way to interact with others to get their question answered quickly, efficiently, and politely.

As for the sajir threads, I thought that was all particularly odd.  If someone was not a natural english speaker (as was evident in the language of the posts),  you would figure they would be struggling to get their message typed up in English in whatever broken format it was.  But to go and capitalize, italicize, bold, underline, font size change, every other word in some misguided effort to make things clearer, that is a ridiculous amount of extra work in trying to compose a message.  If you know you really don't have a grasp on the language you are trying to communicate in, how would you even figure you know how to make it clearer by doing all that the extra work?  ("Hey, I don't know how to really speak English, but if I capitalize this WORD, underline that one, then I just KNOW everyone who does speak English will know what I'm trying to say.")

Actually, I hope Michelle learned something from that other thread. She asked specific questions, posted some code and received some simple, straightforward answers. If she uses that as an example of an effective post sheshould be able to benefit from further participation in the forums. After seeing that thread I am confused why she dug her heels in in this thread and got so angry. She was basically doing what people were saying here in the other thread and the results were much better.

I agree with that and I would like to add that people should use key words in the subject field if they want other members to find the information by doing a search. In the case of this thread, they're is not a single keyword related to the real question (whatever it is!).

Ok, Please no one yell at me. I had just passed my CLAD a few months ago, but was laid off before I was able to do any LabVIEW projects. So I am a newbee.  But would the attached .VI answer the question? If you want to actually save the arrays in an excel type of file simply add a write to file block.

The 2 arrays are FIFI and FILO.

I am truly interested in your opinion

I think there was more to it than reversing a 1D array.

Although I think I saw someone propose that early in the thread.

I'm not sure if anyone actually got a clear description of what the person needed and why.  Those are important in order to suggest the approprate solution or type of solution.  Otherwise, simply giving a solution may not be what the person seeking help actually wanted... knowingly or not..  (Meaning the person asking may not realize that they are going in the wrong direction with their solution... which happens more often than you can imagine).
