MAX not working

Hi,

I recently had to upgrade to Windows Vista. I am running Labview 7 Express, and I cannot open MAX now. What is the problem? And how does MAX relate to NI-DAQmx? Not sure if it's important, but I'm using NI-DAQ 8.1. Thanks,

Steven

Have you tried this?

?In order to change this setting, open the Windows Control Panel. Within the control panel, select User Account » Turn User Account Control On and Off. Once you are in this window, turn the User Account Control off by unchecking it. After doing this, you might need to restart the computer in order for the setting to take effect. You should then be able to open Measurement and Automation Explorer normally.

This i tried when i was stuck.

From a knowledge base article

Ensure that your system is properly configured. If you are having problems, you should look at the Windows Event Log to see if any of the services or applications are reporting errors. If you have DHCP enabled, ensure your computer is properly connected to a DNS server. If you are not connected to a DNS server or router you should manually specify your IP address or disable your network connection.

I suspect that this is all a waste of time. You should always check to see what versions of drivers and LabVIEW are supported by the OS. DAQmx version 8.1 is not supported under Vista. It will not run. The first version of DAQmx with Vista support was 8.5. Version 8.5, however, does not support LabVIEW 7.0. It only supports 7.1 or later. LabVIEW 7.0 isn't supported under Vista either. You seem to have only a couple of options - get rid of Vista or upgrade your version of LabVIEW.
