MAXServerUnknownError

Dominic,

I hadn't seen that you had replied already. I have a strong feeling that my problem was related to Silverlight, have you tried downloading the latest version from Microsoft and checked the info from the KB I linked?

To give you some info on my LV installation, I am running: NI Academic Site License (Fall 2010) which has not been updated.

Unfortunately my PC has been turned on and off several times since the updates was downloaded.

Hi Steve,

Well, I have solved the problem on my laptop, running LV 2010 version 10.0f2 (Windows XP 32 bit machine).  After a few hours in Newbury trying several different things we ended up doing a repair on the laptop using the add/remove programs option in control panel.  It would appear that at some point during the update process after the reinstall something had gone wrong.

The repair feature was run on the cRIO 3.5.1 install which fixed the problem.  I am now trying the following on my desktop (64 bit vista) to see if it solves the problem, the main issue being that max (version 4.7.4f0) can see 3.5.1 but the "add/remove programs" feature only sees 3.5.0........  I am running the 3.5.1 installer again, if that doesn't fix it then I'll try the repair and see what happens.

Cheers,

Dominic

Glad you have made some progress. I must admit that when I've had similar installation issues in the past (it was actually cRIO) I've gone for the nuclear option: uninstalled all NI software, run a registry cleaner (CCleaner) and started again. Not really a solution, but at least that way it is a finite amount of time untill you're up and running again!
