Hello,
I need to develop a hardware-minimal cDAQ configuration for condition monitoring of the hydro-generator shaft. I have some experience with accelerometers (ACC) in the seismic field but none in this particular!
1.
AFAIK, they need to monitor the vibration spectrum (FFT) to track possible peaks other than the 300rpm one, and dynamic DIS(placements) of the shaft. Is this sufficient for the health monitoring or is there anything else?
2.
What TYPE and how MANY ACC sensors? So far, I'd put one to measure axial vibrations - on the generator chassis as close as possible to the shaft, and 1 or 2 on a same radial plane with a bearing of the shaft. Is 1 sufficient, or must I use 2 for a 2D plot of shafts circulation?
3.
What configuration would you suggest for LOCATING the source of possible problem?
Any details and hints are wellcome.
Thanks in advance,

Hello golubovski,
Unfortunately I do not have experience with this particular application. Our products are more on the measurement side but when you do have the specifications of the sensors you are interested in using I would be happy to assist in helping you find a system that works.
