Macintosh Aliases

Hello,

Does anyone know how to distinguish between an Alias and the actual
file/directory? I am trying to list out the entire contents of some
directories, and also determine the total directory size, but whenever
the directory contains an Alias to another folder, Labview keeps going,
listing the contents of that folder as well (if it finishes) as if that
folder were an actual subdirectory. I am using Labview 5.1.1 (on a Mac
🙂 )

Thanks

Paul Davey

I've never used labView on the mac, but I have played around with them. One thing that springs to mind is
trying the "File Type and Creator" vi on directories. You might find that aliases have a different file type
to true directories (although that vi might fail on both).
I hate to guess what happens under OSX!

I have a related problem under Windows 😞
I want file information for everything in a directory tree including following shortcuts (aliases to you).
The "File/Directory Info" vi fails with a "File not found" error if the path to a given file includes a
shortcut!
