Missing palette - Config Files

The Config Files are missing from the subpalette in LV 2014-64 bit for Mac OS.  I am not sure whether they were ever there. The files are in the expected locations. The palette is OK in the 32-bit version.

I have installed a bunch of stuff with VIPM and this may have contributed to the problem.

What I have tried:

Edit Palette Set... Restore to Default and Insert VIs.

Re-install LV.

Delete the config.mnu file.

Edit Palette Set... Delete icon. Insert subpalette. ... This gets me a config subpalette which contains every file in config.llb, not just the subset in the original subpalette.

So I am now to the point where I can work again but I would still like to get back to the default palette.  Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Lynn

Hello Lynn,

I am not sure what you mean by the default subpalette.

Can you not see the Configuration File VI's in the specified subpallete but can see them in another subpalette?

Please give me some more information on what you are trying to do.

Try copying the mnu file from your 32-bit install (since that one works).

Colin D.,

By default palette I am referring to the palette I see in the 32-bit version or in earlier versions of LV. One which has 8-10 VIs shown where my image above shows a blank subpalette.

When I look in vi.lib from the Finder, I see the files. I can place them on a BD by navigating the directories via the Select VI to Open... dialog. So the files are present in the expected directory and they work. I just do not see them in the palette.  I do not see them in any other subpalette in LV 2014_64.

crossrulz,

I will try that.

Tried Tim's suggestion of replacing the .mnu file with the one from the 32-bit version. That did not work: The Config File sub palette is still blank.

Hello Lynn,

Just to confirm, you attempted to replace the file "config.mnu" at:

C:\Program Files(x86)\National Instruments\menus\Categories\Programming\_FileIO

Is this correct?

And your config files menu is working on your 32-bit version?

Colin,

No. I am on the Mac so the path is different. But, yes, that is the menu I replaced. In LV2014-32 the palette is OK.

Hello Lynn,

I would attempt a force reinstall of your 64-bit LabVIEW. You can find the instructions here:

Colin,

That document appears to refere to Windows. How would I do that on MacOS?

My apologies. I am not sure of the procedure for Mac OS. Try uninstalling and reinstalling.
