Missing vision sub vi's

Hi there,

I'm missing some sub vi's from my vision package most notable "Integer to colour value" and "get color pixel line" when I load a vision VI. I reinstalled the latest version of Ni-IMAQ and I can see the camera etc in MAX.

any thoughts...

Thanks

Will.

Hi Will,

Thanks for the post and I hope your well.

What versions of LabVIEW and IMAQ (NI Vision) are you using? - you can find this information in NI License Manager.

Have you recently upgraded LabVIEW?

Maybe try,

  1. If the Motion and Vision Icon and VIs are still missing, close LabVIEW and select Start»Control Panel»Add/Remove Programs and select to Change the National Instruments Software.
  2. A new window will display the National Instruments software on your computer, so you need to select either NI-IMAQ, Vision, or Motion (depending on what you are trying to install).
  3. Select Modify (or Change) until you get to the install option where you select what support to install. Make sure the box next to the version of LabVIEW you are working with, or the option for the latest version of LabVIEW, is selected.
  4. Continue the installation. Once complete, open LabVIEW and the palette and VI icons should be there.

I would also suggest trying the advice in the knowledgebase article, Upgrading NI-IMAQ with LabVIEW.

Let me know if this  helps,

Kind Regards

Hello

I'm using Labview 8 recently (last 6 weeks) updated from 7. This is when the issue seems to have come about. I was using NI_IMAQ 3.1.

I had tried what you had mentioned with the version of NI_IMAQ. The did help somewhat but not fully. I then downloaded the newest verion 3.8 i think it is and installed it. After this install I am still missing the above icons. It does seem that support for Labview 8 is already "activated".

I will try this again and let you know.

Failing this will a complete re-install of labview and IMAQ solve the problem, I'd be surprised as this is essentially what I;ve done already.

Thanks

Will.

Hi Will,

Thanks for the reply.

It seems the VIs Included With the NI-IMAQ Driver/Vision Acquisition Software doesn't include the ones you mentioned.

It seems you need to purchase/trial NI Vision Development Module

http://www.ni.com/vision/vdm.htm

This has an  Evaluation Mode - download link: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/839/lang/en

Hope this helps,

Please let me know if you have any other questions or if you beleive you should have this VIs (and why)

But these VI's were available before the previous upgrade to labview 8. Is it possible that the IT guys have this Vision development module with 8 or 8.2 even.

also I misled you somewhat in the previous posts, I said the "icons" were not available but there are vision pallets and icons available as it stands. Its just that these specific files that I mentioned in the original post seems to be missing.

Thanks

Will.

James is correct that you will need the vision development installed to use this toolset of VIs.

To confirm that you do or do not have these VIs installed on you computer (as you may have them installed under the wrong version of LabVIEW) have a look directly at the library. These can be found at a location similar to :

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.6\vi.lib\vision        Within this folder you will need to have ColorLLB.DLL

If you do have this installed correctly in the folder (or can move it there) you can manually update your functions pallet.

To do this from within LabVIEW select:   Tools>>Advanced>>Edit Palette Set   next browse through your palettes until you know where you want to add the toolkit, right click and select add subpalette then select link to LLB and select the above LLB.

This may not be totally relevant to your current situation but if you are considering upgrading to further LabVIEW versions such as 8.6 and encounter further palette problems then this can be a useful trick to know.

I hope I have been of some assistance

Hi Will,

To check what is installed, you can either use NI License Manager or Measurement and Automation Explorer( MAX) for a list of software.

Maybe consider, installing the 30day trial to see if the VIs appear?

Hello Folks,

Many thanks for your input...I will check with the IT guys as to the aviailability or not of the vision development module and get them to install.

I wont get a chance to do this until a little later in the week so I'd appreciate if you could check back then if I needed more help....

Will post with updates...thanks

Will.

Hi Will,

We are both attached to the thread now we have posted - and I for one will check back if you update us.

I would also look at grahams advice, if the VIs are already installed, then you can just add them to the newer version.
