Modify front panel properties from a text file

Solved!
Go to solution

Good morning.

Maybe this question is already answered but I can't find it.

I'm trying to create a menu ring in the front panel which strings are taken from a text file, and i have no clue how to do it.

I have as input a file a text file with a list of positions, and with that file in the front panel i would like to show a menu ring with all the postions that are available. I suppose that it has to do something with the properties but I'm quite new in Labview so I don't know how to do it.

If someone could help me i'd appreciate it.

thank you very much

Hi Jose,

Welcome to the world of LabVIEW!

It sounds like you need to learn some of the basics of file I/O and GUI customization.  You should probably start by learning the basics of LabVIEW using many of the tutorials, examples and online help that come with the product.  The following links will help you get started:

To change the properties of your menu ring:

Programmatically Edit Items in a Menu, Text, or Ring List

To read from a file:

Getting Started: Read Data from Spreadsheet (.csv) and Display in LabVIEW
